Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system), and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

In addition, doctors of chiropractic recognize the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interest of the patient.

Benefits of Chiropractic

There are many benefits to chiropractic care, whether in relationship to the area of relief care, or the optimization of wellness. Some of the widely-regarded benefits include reductions in pain, increased neurological function, and overall maximization of health potential. Many patients also report that they feel more flexible, sleep better and experience less digestive discomfort.

At Sewickley Chiropractic Center, we feature state-of-the-art techniques in order to provide patients with outstanding benefits including:

Activator Methods™

This low-force technique is designed for patients with possible contra-indications to manual adjusting. The technique is instrument-based, and ideal for those suffering from osteoporosis or patients that prefer a gentle technique that requires no twisting or torquing of the spine.

Diversified is the most well-known of all chiropractic techniques. This treatment style involves full spinal manual adjusting that is often accompanied by a slight clicking or popping sound, as air is released from between the spinal joints.

Thompson Drop Table

This technique is designed to adjust the larger bones of the pelvis. The treatment is gentle, allowing the pelvis to move independently from the rest of the spine, so that only minimal force is necessary. This popular adjustment style is achieved through a separate drop piece that is built into the adjusting table.

We also feature complementary therapies to assist in rapid pain relief and faster healing, including electric stimulation, intersegmental traction, massage therapy, therapeutic exercise and spinal decompression.

Our Custom-designed Approach to Care

Our customized care options are dependent on several factors: the chronicity of your problem, your age, your lifestyle habits and your general state of overall health. We generally divide our treatment protocols into three phases:

Phase 1 (Acute Care)
The goal of this phase of care is to decrease or eliminate your pain through spinal manipulation and complementary therapies, with the intent of reducing inflammation and optimizing nervous system function.

Phase 2 (Rehabilitation)
This stage of care typically involves customized exercise and at-home instructions. This phase is designed to strengthen the tissues that surround the injured spinal elements as an aid in stabilization.

Phase 3 (Maintenance)
Maintenance care (often referred to as wellness care) involves periodic check-ups and spinal adjustment without the overt presence of symptoms. This is helpful in addressing minor issues as they arise, and invaluable in avoiding the pain of small issues turning into big ones.

We work hard to gain your trust, and nothing makes us happier than to fulfill your health needs. Make an appointment to see us today; we offer on-site X-ray imaging, late hours, and in-network insurance provision.
